太平盛世元祿年間，將軍親賜給家老的寶刀被游方武士·風祭蘭之介掠走。家老之子·犬飼平四郎為追回寶刀，攜幼時好友共同上路，卻被風祭打得落花流水。平四郎有幸被劍術高手溝口半兵衛(wèi)及其愛女小春搭救。勉強保住性命的平四郎報仇之心難泯。但是和平主義者溝口卻堅持反對用武力解決問題……
